AUD’$ welcomes you to On The Brink, one of the most insightful and important documentary series happening right now. Focused completely on the ca$h culture, the new-wave of Hip Hop from Australia (specifically Sydney for the current series), that’s on the brink of going Global.
On the Brink is a mini-documentary about new wave Hip Hop in Australia that deals with how multiculturalism and cultural isolation can breed success. By profiling the new breed of artists in the local Sydney scene, On the Brink delves into their backstories and cultural makeup, to see how their experiences have shaped the way they make music.
The profiles, leading up to a mini-doco are dropping over on Highsnobiety who “went down under to give you an up-close and personal look at a few of the rising music stars coming out of Sydney, Australia. Our second installment follows The Yung Dready Bastrd, a Ghanaian-Australian rapper raised in a predominantly white Australian community on the coast. After local haters mocked him simply for being the artist that he is and even vandalized the house where he lived with his mom, he retained his zen and relocated to Sydney, where he’s now riding the new wave of Australian rap”.
Round of applause to Sydney based filmmaker and series Director Alex Bradshaw for making it all happen. We’ll be bringing you the teaser trailers direct from our Facebook and the full profiles right here on the AUD’$ website via Highsnobiety.
