Bliss n Eso Are Throwing a Party on the Moon – And You’re Invited
BY

Australian hip-hop titans Bliss n Eso are blasting off in 2025 with their most epic tour yet—‘Party On The Moon’, a massive 31-date run celebrating the release of their new album ‘The Moon (The Light Side)‘. Set to light up stages from May through August, this tour is more than just a show—it’s a celebration of legacy, growth, and the power of music to uplift and unite. We caught up with the enthusiastic rap duo (again) for a chat about the new project, their musical evolution, and why they can’t wait to get back out on the road.
A Journey That Changed the Game
Since their formation in Sydney in the early 2000s, Bliss (Jonathan Notley), Eso (Max MacKinnon), and DJ Izm (Tarik Ejjamai) have become household names in Australian music, pioneering a sound that brought raw, thoughtful hip-hop from the underground into the mainstream. Long before it was cool to rap with an Aussie accent, Bliss n Eso did it proudly—and unapologetically.
Their early work, especially albums like Flowers in the Pavement (2004) and Day of the Dog (2006), helped establish them as torchbearers for a new wave of local hip-hop. But it was their groundbreaking third album Flying Colours (2008) that really catapulted them to national prominence. It debuted in the ARIA top 10 and earned an ARIA Award for Best Urban Release, signaling that Australian hip-hop had arrived.
Then came Running On Air (2010) and Circus in the Sky (2013)—both certified ARIA chart-toppers. The duo wasn’t just riding a wave—they were making it. Off The Grid (2017), their sixth studio album, continued that dominance, debuting at No. 1 and proving their relevance and reach were stronger than ever. With multiple platinum singles, sold-out arena shows, and festival headline slots under their belt, Bliss n Eso aren’t just legends—they’re an institution.
Music With Meaning
While their party-starting anthems have become staples in gyms, clubs, and festival mosh pits around the country, Bliss n Eso have never shied away from deeper, more vulnerable songwriting. Tracks like Sea is Rising, Field of Dreams, and Moments (feat. Gavin James) speak to personal growth, social issues, and the highs and lows of the human experience.
“It’s building that family community. There’s something about the message in the music that has resonated deeply with the fans. That’s where you get those lyrics tattooed that mean the world to people.”
Their ability to balance hype and heart is what sets them apart. One minute you’re jumping up and down to Act Your Age, and the next you’re feeling seen by a song like Believe or Friend Like You. Their music doesn’t just hit— for a generation of Aussies – it connects to the soul.
Back to the Roots: The Moon (The Light Side)
Their upcoming album, The Moon (The Light Side), is described by the crew as a return to the “classic golden era party rocking vibe” that originally lit the fire for Bliss n Eso as teenage hip-hop heads. With early singles like Feeling Fly, Vacation, and the album’s title track Party On The Moon, the energy is raw, nostalgic, and bursting with love for the culture that shaped them.
“This is probably the best balanced Bliss n Eso album that we’ve made. You know, usually there might be too many party tracks or not enough sentimental stuff. This is the perfect blend with a little fucking cherry on top and it’s exciting to finally, finally have it fucking coming out.”
One of the standout moments is the title track, a rework of Gang Starr’s iconic Full Clip produced by DJ Premier, into a fresh Bliss n Eso anthem. For any hip-hop purist, that’s goosebumps territory. It’s a full-circle moment: from being inspired by the 90s greats like Premo and Nas to working alongside them.
The Live Show: Where Bliss n Eso Shine Brightest
If you’ve never seen Bliss n Eso live, this tour is your sign. Their performances are electric, spiritual, and straight-up unforgettable. Packed venues, crowd singalongs, and a full-throttle setlist that balances bangers with heartfelt moments—it’s a rollercoaster of energy and emotion.
“Every time we do a tour, man, we want to take people on a journey. Building a show is like building an album. We want the audience to walk in and we’re taking them somewhere with visuals and everything, the light show, we’re running a fully synced show. We want certain things to hit perfectly as we rhyme and illustrate things that we’re doing. So it’s like, how far can you take it, man?”
And that’s the thing: their shows are as much about community as they are about music. You don’t just watch a Bliss n Eso gig—you feel it. You become a part of it.
Lifting Others As They Rise
One of the most admirable things about Bliss n Eso is how they’ve continuously brought others along on the journey. Over the years, they’ve helped spotlight and support a wide range of rising stars.
They’ve toured and helped build the profiles of the likes of Seth Sentry, Horrorshow, and Pez, and even supported international giants like 50 Cent, G-Unit, and Lil Jon. They’ve shared the stage with legends but never lost sight of their mission: to grow and elevate the local scene.
For this tour, they’re bringing Ivan Ooze along for the ride—one of Melbourne’s most energetic and lyrically sharp MCs.
“There’s something about Ivan. He knows how to rock a show. Like this guy does innovative stuff. As a headline group that’s about to come out, you want that puppy warmed up and ready to rock. And he delivers. So yeah, it was only right that we put those boys back on, man. They’ve proved themselves before, and about to do it again.”
Having opened for Wu-Tang Clan, Ice Cube, and Azealia Banks, Ooze brings a fierce presence that perfectly complements Bliss n Eso’s showmanship.
Party On The Moon: Not Just a Tour—A Movement
‘Party On The Moon’ isn’t just a clever name—it’s a mindset. It’s about levelling up, reaching for something bigger, and dancing through the darkness with your people by your side. Whether you’ve been following them since the Day of the Dog days or you’re brand new to their orbit, this tour is your invitation to jump aboard the rocket.
“When we first started, we thought we were gonna be studio rappers, and really we became known from our live show. That’s kind of what built us. So really, that’s the core of who we are. And it’s our second home up on that stage, man. We love it.”
In a world that often feels divided and heavy, Bliss n Eso bring people together. Their music reminds us that there’s still beauty in the chaos, and that sometimes, the best way to face life’s madness is to turn the volume up and lose yourself in the moment.
Don’t Miss Your Ticket to the Moon
Bliss n Eso have earned every ounce of their legacy. They’ve put in the work, stayed true to their craft, and kept showing up—on wax, on stage, and in the hearts of fans across generations. The ‘Party On The Moon’ tour is a culmination of everything they’ve built: a celebration of the past, a reflection of the present, and a launchpad into the future.
If you’ve ever screamed their lyrics with your mates at a party, if you’ve ever needed a song to get you through the hard times, or if you simply want to experience the energy that made them legends—this is your moment. Strap in. This party’s headed to the stars.
