PREMIERE: JUJO – HOW FT. OUTLAW THE ARTIST

“Tell me HOW did it get like this…?”

 

Without question JUJO is one of 2020’s most prolific Australian producers. From tracks with everyone from Jordan Dennis through to Droopo, Blush’ko and more, there’s rarely a curated hip-hop playlist without his unique bass heavy aesthetic present. Today however it is his poignant link-up with US rapper Outlaw The Artist, simply titled ‘HOW’ which we’re bringing you exclusively via AUD’$.

‘HOW’ was birthed through observation of some of the intense challenges and changes the world has been faced with over generations. Many of them peaking to the forefront of consciousness this year. Having travelled the globe several times in a past life as an electronic / dance producer, the now Melbourne based JUJO has an extensive list of music connections in all corners of the planet – it was via this network that he linked with OTA, the Bronx-born now LA based rapper notable for a recent placement on 50 Cent‘s blockbuster TV show Power Book II: Ghost.

Encapsulating angst, suppression and a common global struggle, this record asks the simple question of humanity’s arrival at the status quo. Dark, gritty and full of heart, the two talents combine for a record, inspired in part by the Black Lives Matter movement; one which ponders of the changes necessary for society to be rid of judgement, discrimination and segregation.

The collaboration was natural with both artists boldly and proudly unafraid to be outspoken on causes close to their heart. JUJO states that he considers it a privilege to be using his art and his platform; “to be a gateway for others to step up and be vocal about how they feel about the issues we face as a human race, especially at a time like this…”
