THE KID LAROI – LOVE AGAIN
(Directed by Adrian Villagomez)
In wait of a new album, The Kid Laroi excites fans with his new single ‘Love Again’. In typical Laroi style, he shares a story about heartbreak and all the emotions that come along with it. Directed by Adrian Villagomez, he falls in love with a mannequin and seems to wrestle with the idea of not being good enough for her, until turning into a mannequin himself at the end of the music video. Produced by Omer Fedi and Cirkut, the guitar instrumental is melodic and Laroi’s performance is catchy – an exciting teaser to his next project.
SACHÉM – GLITTER & GOLD FT. TOM THUM
(No.One Network & Moonboy Production)
Sachém shares visuals to ‘Glitter & Gold’, the title track of his three-part EP with Tom Thum. In his long-awaited return, the Brisbane-based artist draws from his experiences in Australia as a First Nations and African-American. With Thum on the chorus and co-production, the song and visuals also include the local choir of his homeplace, North Stradbroke Island. The music video, by Kyel925 (No.One Network) and Josh Ratahi (Moonboy Production), ends with Sachém by a campfire reciting the poignant spoken word from the collaborative project, ‘Act of Reckoning’.
ARNT MAE – MISFIT
(Brayden FunFilms)
Under a new moniker, Arnt Mae unveils ‘Misfit’ as her debut release. The Melbourne-based artist unleashes a dynamic vocal performance across jarring piano keys and the electrifying production by Studio Y3K. The accompanying visuals by Brayden FunFilms take inspiration from the X-Men movies. Tying to the lyrical themes, the music video sees Arnt Mae escaping her entrapment and finding empowerment in individuality. ‘Misfit’ is the anthem for outcasts and marks the first of many new singles slated for release in 2023.
1300 – STEVE JOBS FT. KWAME
(Directed by Raghav Rampal)
After an incredible run in 2022, 1300 continue with their latest song ‘Steve Jobs’ alongside Western Sydney’s Kwame. Directed by Raghav Rampal, they explore government mind control and let viewers in on their idea of a 9-5 office job. They wear Steve Job inspired outfits, and have a minimalist aesthetic throughout. The video takes inspiration from the 1999 science-fiction blockbuster, The Matrix, and the song itself is a fast paced, interesting soundscape in typical 1300 fashion.
RIBBY247 – RUN
(BKH Media Agency)
Gold Coast’s own Ribby247 delivers the visuals to his 2022 single ‘RUN’ – a raw, bold underground tale that capped off his biggest year yet. Crisp edits and after-effects from BKH enhance the visuals of the Big Boppa rapping from behind bars, boasting of his street credentials while shouting out BGS and #FREERIKO. Having recently delivered strong collabs with KZ Tha Bandit and Noddy No Mask, Ribby’s presence continues to elevate as he starts the new year with ‘2STEP’, a huge link-up between the QLD rapper and WA’s very own, Shadow.
THATKIDMAZ – THE LOST FREESTYLE
(Dream But Don’t Sleep)
Off the back of his debut EP Lil Eritrean Boy in 2022, Melbourne emcee ThatKidMaz opens the new year with ‘THE LOST FREESTYLE’ – a gentle reminder that he has one of the smoothest flows in the AU. Produced by Trevor DeBlase, ‘TLF’ was recorded and shot while on tour in New York where he played the legendary SOB’s. The music video, directed by Dream But Don’t Sleep, catches Maz in boom-bap flex mode in the heart of Brooklyn, mixing with locals while dropping a verse full of pop culture and basketball references. Butter.
