IVAN OOZE – GHOSTS
(Bryce TM)

Oz Rap’s favourite super villain is back after an extended hiatus on banging new record ‘Ghosts’. Cooked up by 2022 AUD’$ Producer of the Year JUJO, booming yet eerie sounds are the perfect backdrop for Ivan Ooze‘s laser-sharp cadence as he rhymes about the highs and lows experienced on his rollercoaster career journey. On brand as always, the video is equal parts turn-up vibes, artistic direction, and tongue-in-cheek slapstick moments as Ooze is supported with cameos from a host of Melbourne’s creative talent including Junor, Jordan Dennis, Young Sinatra and Yung Shogun. Welcome back.

PLANET VEGETA – BURN DAT FT. ASHTON SELLARS
(SNDR Films)

These guys don’t miss. Whether it’s hard-hitting raps or fun, up-tempo melodic jams, Planet Vegeta do it with aplomb. Western Sydney’s most boundary-pushing three-piece combine all their artistic elements on new drop ‘burn dat’ – a casual ode to good times and scene status. Shot by regular collaborator SNDR Films, the new track sees Svno, Jazz and LKGD link with Ashton Sellers on a big night out in the club and arcade. While not as polished as their acclaimed full-length projects Ninety-Two Way (2022) and Letters to Chi Chi (2021), PV has the unique talent and ability to make their throwaways sound better than most people’s premiere work. More please.

KIRBY – SAVERS VINYL FT. CLAZ, COAST & OCEAN, CHINA ROSES
(Pretty Bull Productions)

Tarntanya/Adelaide emcee Kirby links with Claz, Coast & Ocean, and China Roses for his latest cut ‘Savers Vinyl’. The self-produced track samples a $2 vinyl bought from a thrift store, hence the name and its laid back, jazzy hip-hop aesthetic. Directed and edited by Claz, the music video depicts them burn-“cruising through the CBD of ADL.” With past singles like ‘Pit Stop’ and ‘Check’, the young rapper has been putting out some of his best work yet. ‘Savers Vinyl’ is the fourth and final single from his debut album Kirby’s Dreamy State, set for release on March 17.

JORDANE – IS IT WRONG?
(Dylan Guy)

Naarm/Melbourne-based artist Jordane returns with a playfully curious new R&B single titled ‘Is It Wrong?’. Following on from her 2022 release ‘Take A Seat’, the Indian-Australian singer-songwriter enlists creatives from her hometown of Perth for the soulful production – including co-writers Jarrod Jeremiah and Adam Ricci, as well as Dylan Guy who doubles as the music video’s director. With visuals of an afternoon spent at an outdoor basketball court, Jordane says “this song is about reflecting on our past and the relationships that started off as something so beautiful but had to take a different route.”

ZARIIAA – LIFESTYLE FT. BC TOMMY
(LOUOH MEDIA)

Melbourne pair Zariiaa and BC Tommy link up for ‘Lifestyle’, an introspective melodic track about their upbringing. Louoh Media captures the two at the basketball court, surrounded by community, both expressing grievances for their past but looking forward to a brighter future. It’s extremely honest and raw, where they allow each other to equally portray their different experiences growing up.

DOSS & NINO PA’PIU – SLIM JAWN
(Brandon James)

A Doss & Nino track is always a power-punch, but add Sowdy in the mix (literally, on the mix) and it’s a Unified title belt. Perth continues to win, and ‘Slim Jawn’ once again showcases why the 6K is the most underrated city in Australian hip-hop. The pair are sending an SOS to all Australian MC’s, with their bar-heavy, richly visual verses and crispy cadence over the Dimslim-produced beat, who stir fried up a Big L-esque sample.
