FOREIGN EXCHANGE: JAYPROB, KHAMARI, AWICH

Daily we’re digging through our submissions on SubmitHub to bring you some of the best emerging talent from across the globe. Be it rap, trap, r&b or afro-beats we’re down to deliver. Another great bunch below hailing from Michigan all the way to Tokyo. Make sure you check out the tracks below and follow along to our Spotify playlist to be listening regularly. ????

KHAMARI – THE HEAT

Independent talent Khamari puts his own twist on a contemporary R&B lane in latest cut The Heat. Gentle vocals over fingerpicked bass lines make for an easy listen in the lane of Dominic Fike or Childish Gambino. Hailing from Boston, MA this is the second cut from a debut EP due later this year.

JOMO KENYATTA II FEAT. PHILO – I DID IT

Straight out of the streets of Grand Rapids, Michigan, this one slaps. Jomo Kenyatta bringing raw raps from the trap with a stand-out cadence and afro-flute influences. Think Mozzy or Jarren Benton, while feature artist Philo fits half a dozen flow switches into a precise Schoolboy Q like verse. Watch out for more from these guys. They dope.

JAYPROB FEAT. IAMDOECHII – RIGHT NOW

Sexy baby-making vibes here from New York recording artist Jayprob in this link-up with IamDoechii. Filtered 808’s and sensual autotune in a GASHI or Tory Lanez like manner. This one comes with a NSFW video too. Worth peeping.

JOE REIDY – ME AND YOU

Laidback and casual, 23 year old Virginia based artist Joe Reidy comes through with relaxed bars over chill production in this light-hearted romantic cut. The sampled boom-bap production is a highlight here for Reidy to lace with his clever wordplay in a a throwback to early Asher Roth.

MIKE XAVIER – FREE

Laidback keys, piano and boom-bap drums is the canvas for Los Angeles rapper Mike Xavier to paint his BLM message on in latest release “Free”. Poignant, mellow and buttery – Free reflects on the current state of politics and society in a true West Coast style. Part Dizzy Wright, part Dom Kennedy. 100% enjoyable listening.

AWICH – SHOOK SHOOK

Japanese rapper and recent Universal Music Group signee Awich, comes through with her debut major single ‘Shook Shook’. Half Japanese and half in English, she delivers braggadocious with a presence familiar to listeners of Nicki Minaj or Megan Thee Stallion.

LOSER – TREASURE HUNTER

Born in Florida but now based just outside Los Angeles, recording artist Loser is heavily inspired by early 2000s rock and underground hip-hop in the mould of Xxxtentacion. New single ‘Treasure Hunter’ envisages what it would be like to be on the search for riches via powerful toplines over electric guitars.
