FOREIGN EXCHANGE is our weekly wrap up of the best global submissions we’ve received via SubmitHub. Coming from all across the world from London to Arizona and everything in between. Be sure to check the latest batch of Rap, Trap and R&B talent below, follow some new artists and stay locked to our Spotify to be listening daily.
TORYIA – BAD TRIP
London via Latvia singer / songwriter Toryia brings dark electronic R&B sounds with influences ranging from Kehlani to Rihanna. The first single off her forthcoming 5-track debut EP highlights the singer’s melodic talents over moody trap production as she takes us all on a journey of her bad romance / trip.
KID TRAVIS – ON MY WAY
A blend of low-fi rock and hip-hop from US multi-instrumentalist Kid Travis. Gentle harmonies over a bass lead beat give off Post Malone or even Phoenix feel good type vibes. Having won recognition from the likes of Bryson Tiller and with over half a million monthly Spotify, expect big things from this talent.
AZEEZ – GOSSIP
New Jersey emcee Azeez comes through with steady punchlines and a Bas like cadence on latest release ‘Gossip’– an autobiographical cut from the independent rapper. If the opening track from recent 12-track project It’s Lif3 is any indication of the man’s abilities definitely take a dive deeper into his catalogue. One for the lyricists.
AASTN – CEO FEAT. MU REAL
Raspy autotune melodies over gentle piano lead production from US rapper Aastn. Reminiscent of Lil Tecca or YNW Melly with fast pace aspirational raps about money, society and women. One for lovers of Soundcloud rap.
JAYWOP – SCREENDOOR
23 year old emcee Jaywop illustrates lyrically on new single & video Screendoor, painting a picture of an emerging artist moulded by the likes of Buddy, Isaiah Rashad and CJ Fly. A natural spitter, the Phoenix talent now based in LA sits comfortably in several pockets and is a guy that should have a much larger listenership that he currently does. Watch closely.
CHINO CAPPIN’ – LAP DANCE
Georgia rapper Chino Cappin’ bringing street raps to the exchange this week with a Roddy Ricch like cadence. Lap Dance would be equally at home on the aux or in the strip club as he blends trap flows over 90s like R&B production. Bump along along to this joint.
DRAGONFRUIT – WASTED
We’ve brought you the sounds of Dutch Neo-Soul outfit Dragonfruit before and they’ve hit the mark again on latest cut Wasted. Elements of The Internet, The Free Nationals and Jorja Smith here with a groovy hip-hop transition. Another chiller.
LIL BRICK – ENERGY FEAT. ALEX JAY & YO’SHIYAH ‘ARSE
Twitter powerhouse Lil Brick has been running amuck on the platform for the better part of the last year but here backs it up on record with an impressive new drop in Energy. Old School 90’s era hip-hop vibes coming through outta the mid-west for the head boppers.
