Snoop and Dre. Ye and Cudi. Rick Ross and Drake. There’s just some names in hip-hop that when you see paired together, you get hype knowing it bout to be fire. In the southern half of the planet, Citizen Kay and Genesis Owusu, two brothers from Canberra are a couple of those dudes. Funny Business is the title of their latest collab, an 80s synth infused jam where their natural chemistry is on show reminiscent of the early Ansah Bros. days.

Lucious falsetto vocals on the hook. Funky, toe tapping bass lines holding down the production. A comedic Miami Vice-like clip. This one’s got all the elements for another Citizen Kay hit, after ‘Ego’ hit the US College Radio charts last year.

It’s’ now half a decade since Citizen Kay broke through with his ARIA nominated debut EP ‘Demokracy’ and in the time since, his message of speaking truth to power has only intensified for the Ghanian born talent;

“The track explores our relationship with mainstream media and how we’re expected to trust it all without question. People need to find their own truths. Stop adopting everything you read or see without researching it for yourself…” Citizen Kay reveals.

Funny Business has already scored him a cover spot on AU CA$H RADIO on Spotify  but you can now also enjoy the visuals by long time collaborator Nic Vevers a day early exclusively through AUD’$ below.
