COMBINED MENTALZ – LONDONER
Emcee King Latts and producer Mr Synback are hip-hop duo Combined Mentalz and have recently dropped this tribute to their home city of London. A natural boom-bap chemistry allows for an interrogation of their areas social and political happenings.
SILVERTWINS OF FUNK – TIME
Funky. Groovy. Head bopping. Aptly named Swedish act Silvertwins Of Funk give off Commodores type vibes on latest release ‘Time.’
ALTUZ – WAITING AGAIN
Long Island, NY artist Altuz is bringing his unique brand of country-rap to the table via latest project Steel Strings & Whiskey. Acoustic guitars, mixed with a rural drawl and some tight autotune. More Tim McGraw than Young Thug but it stands out nonetheless.
KIA – MADAM$
LA based KIA is full of presence and attitude. A prolific songwriter with previous Netflix placements, the rap talent of Dutch / Indonesian origins channels Junglepussy or Lekeli47 on Madam$ – a powerful boss bitch anthem.
BABE. – HIGH THOUGHTS
This. Is. Damn. Cool. LA’s Babe. is making chilled, smokey R&B from her quarantined bedroom. Hints of Jhene Aiko, bits of Mac Miller. And a super cool unique cadence. Watch this space.
C. JAY DINERO – TRAP BACK JUMPIN’
This sounds like 2013 2 Chainz in his B.O.A.T.S era! C. Jay Dinero is a Cincinnati trapper who knows how to write a catchy hook. Flows are dope. Beat slaps. This a ignant turn up vibe if you need one.
NAROU – HESITATED
German producer Narou has recently dropped his EP ‘Good Company’ and ‘Hesitated’ is the final single from the record. Super smooth, boppy R&B from a guy who is running up some serious numbers; not dissimilar to Australia’s own CVIRO x GXNXVS.
MATTI ROOTS – RIGHT THERE
Contemporary R&B / Roots sounds from UK’s Matti Roots. An infectious bassline which could’ve been laid by Thundercat and luscious echoed harmonies. This is a whole vibe.
