AUD’$ is out here in a huge way, connecting a whole lot of talented artists to put on a show for the culture. On Tuesday, September 5, we’ll be live at Woolly Mammoth, teaming up with Call & Response and Young Henrys to bring you THE NEW WAVE, a showcase of some of the most finessed, creme de la creme of ca$h culture in AUS.

Performances will go from 2pm – 7pm and the show is FREE! If you’re in Brisbane, you really don’t want to miss out on this!
Fast forward, the sun is set, the sinners are out and AUD’$ is taking you through the night with Spenda C at THE TBC Club. Spenda C will be showcasing tracks off the upcoming Bone Collector EP ft. collaborations with Midas.Gold, Carmouflage Rose, Big Skeez, Jesswar + more. Now without further adieu, let’s take a look at our line-up for THE NEW WAVE (in alphabetical order).

AYWIN MANYOUL

Now before we dive in, while you’re reading this I want you to feel what I’m feelin, we need to set a mood. Chuck on 2 Minute Death or Finesse, now turn it down to a background vibe. Alright, now imagine if someone were to encapsulate the soul of Missy Elliot and the sauce of Lil’ Kim (huge call, I know) top it off with original flavour and BNE finesse, you’ve got Aywin Manyoul, the rest is history. Are you hearing that? That’s just artist #1.

CARMOUFLAGE ROSE

Now let’s throw on ‘Late Nights‘, one of Carmouflage Rose‘s most recent releases. Among landing a spot playing his first national tour supporting Fat Nick, it was announced yesterday that the BNE fast-riser will be playing alongside A$AP Ferg, Manu Crooks, Haiku Hands and many more at Alison Wonderland‘s ‘Wonderland Scarehouse Project‘ PLUS being on the line-up for Sprung Festival. Carmouflage Rose makes tribal, soul-feeding transcendent tunes. All about raw energy, emotion and turning up, see ‘Kick on’$‘ his collab with Midas.Gold for another example.

DEX

DEX is the 18y/o Melbourne rapper who has just kicked off his own national tour. The ‘4AM‘ tour comes after his collaboration with Allday, it’s a dreamy late night love song by the same name and I think we should throw that on now – 4AM. With loads of cash behind him already including single God Damn ft. I Am D, and his legendary verse in Ground Up (just to name a few), it doesn’t take much to see the man has been working closely with the right people and has a huge career ahead of him.

ERIK SANDERS

As one of the scene’s fast-risers, we’re mad hyped to see Erik Sanders. Just a few days after the release of ‘Purple Panther‘, which features Atlanta’s Reese Laflare, Sanders has had a great 2017 with plenty of bangers, a tour, upcoming EP and a contract with WVS. The man is sure to bring the sauce today in his hometown, so if you haven’t heard any of his music yet hurry up and throw on ‘Purple Panther‘. Join the wave.

GALLVS

One of Brisbane’s favourite sons, GALLVS (pronounced ‘Gallus’) is sure to put his heart into this performance. Having supported Seth Sentry this year and releasing the powerful single, ‘Lionheart’, GALLVS stands as one of the most creative, ambitious and innovative artists to come out of this city, we are keen to see what he has planned for this set and future.

G ELENIL

With an op-bounce, soulful and jazzy influence throughout her production and a flow reminiscent to NoName, it’s easy to hear why this girl deserves to glow up. G Elenil seamlessly weaves her words in and out of various pace changes within the beats she’s produced, pulling influence from Chance The Rapper, Childish Gambino and DRAM, this Brisbane rapper/producer/singer, G Elenil is a self produced wonder-woman. If you haven’t familiarized yourself with her sounds yet, we strongly recommend you get your head right and do so. Having shared the stage with Nico Ghost, I AM D, Jesswar and feeling the love from Pilerats, Purple Sneakers and more, it’s past time to clear a path and let this girl spread her wings.

IIICONIC

iiiConic (Akwesi Afoakwah/Akka) is one of Brisbane’s brightest young rappers, hit play on ‘Basics‘ now. Originating from Ghana, West Africa, iiiConic has carved his name into the Australian Hip Hop scene, writing music since the age of 10, sending a positive message of motivation and working hard to those on a similar grind. Not just a rapper, but a producer and sound engineer too, iiiConic lays his flow over heavy hitting and melodic beats with a slight electronic influence. Sliding into the SPRUNG festival lineup, getting plays over at The Hip Hop Show on Triple J, and supporting the homies on tour, iiiConic has a broad horizon ahead of him.

JESSWAR

Having already supported the likes of Tkay Maidza, David Dallas, Bliss n Eso, Akala, Lady Leshurr, and touring with 360, it’s clear that Jesswar is hungry, driven and destined for big things. Her stage presence brings an unwavering energy that steers a crowd, as 2017 only looks to get brighter for the young Brisbane based star on the rise. At 22 years old, this MC honestly has some of the purest flow you’ll hear, with sounds and samples throwing back to some classic’s you might hear your nan play. Another Sprung Festival artist who’s about to be your new favourite female rapper, and she’s from your own damn back yard.

JUÑOR

To say Juñor is actively working on his craft at all times is an understatement, a lot has happened since he returned from DJing for Ivan Ooze on Peking Duk’s ‘Clowntown’ tour in the middle of the year. He has embarked on his own ‘First Class’ national tour with Kwame, following the success of ‘Top Flight‘, a collaboration with Mann (USA) & Nate Fox (USA, Chance the Rapper) which you have to hit play on immediately. He’s landed a spot supporting Fat Nick (USA) on his AUS/NZ tour, and a spot playing at Sprung Festival. As if that wasn’t enough, Juñor has also announced he’s going to be jumping back on tour with Ivan Ooze for ‘Social Alien 2′ on which Juñor’s responsible for the recording and mixing. All this in between AUD’$ Radio season 2 and 3…  Catch him while you can, basically.

KARNAGE N DARKNIS

Karnage N Darknis (KnD) are the duo making waves all the way from Alice Springs, and they don’t shy away from tough subject matter, writing about what is important to them and always dousing their songs in important messages. On their most recent project ‘Muzik Iz 4eva, track #3 ‘Cut Me‘ features Krystal West and faces domestic violence (a striking music video too btw, debuted on Rage last week, check it out here), track #4 ‘Black Yellow Red‘ talks about their people and their culture, an equally as important social messaged conveyed in a completely different way. These guys have also been added to the Sprung Festival lineup, bringin that NT feel to the GC.

MIDAS.GOLD

Midas is back baby! After a huge 2016, the Brisbane based Midas.Gold reminded us that he’s got hits with his latest drop, ‘Location’ – a fierce statement of intent with James Angus on production, showing the beginning of a new chapter in his career. Off the back of a big August – signing with R.E.A.L. Collaboration, performing at the Red Bull Music Academy last week and receiving a mad amount of buzz around ‘Location’, we’re excited to see what the man has in store for his live performances and future

ROYCE DRIXHEN

From his debut track Midnight, to his most recent project The PreludeRoyce Drixhen has been churning out consistent hits. Throw on our office favourite, something that has kept us motivated though many a killer monday ‘Forever Working, Never Sleeping‘. Royce Drixhen’s most recent money move was the creation of Nuance, a live music movement and showcase which has just seen a huge launch night in Melbourne, next stop Sydney.

YUNG DREADY MANE

Yung Dready Mane, we dig. If you missed him at Nuance, and you miss him at the showcase (touch wood), then you can catch the all round good dude playing ‘Nothing But Good Vibes’ @ The Louis Hotel, an event sponsored by Beyond Blue which raises awareness and funds for mental health. You can also find him under the Sydney harbor bridge kicking up a hella vibe in his most recent music video, or you’ll see him passed out in a compromising position over the top of a couch then turning himself into a meme… but basically whatever he’s doing, he’s doing it well.

Z. LEWIS

After supporting Seth Sentry this year, killing the AUD$ Cypher and releasing his sharp track, ‘Don’t Speak 2 Me’, Z. Lewis, one of the scene’s hungriest and most energetic artists, is genuinely one not to miss. Having spent most of his life in London and stating that he, “wouldn’t have half the drive” he has for this game if he hadn’t moved to Brisbane, Z. Lewis is a highlight of the cultural melting pot that is this city’s hip-hop scene. Leading with high work-rate, thoughtful lyricism and blistering flow, man like Z stands out in this country as whole.

So there you have it! NEW WAVE 2017.
We’ll see you @ The Woolly Mammoth from 2 – 7, then The TBC Club all night, let’s turn tf uuuup 💰💰
