BRINGING HIP-HOP TO THE TABLE AT INAUGURAL SXSW SYDNEY FESTIVAL

Continuing with the AUD’$ mission of connecting culture and community, Co-Founder Matthew Craig touches down in the Harbour City this week for the inaugural SWSW Sydney conference.

This week marks the first time ever city outside of Austin, Texas has hosted the iconic creative industries festival, with the inaugural Asia Pacific edition kicking off on Sunday 15 October until Sunday 22 October.,

SXSW Sydney will feature more than 1,200 events and sessions, including a line-up of luminary speakers including Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman, Grammy-winning artist Chance the Rapper, creator of Black Mirror Charlie Brooker, filmmaker and director Baz Luhrmann, Australian actress Naomi Watts and many more. Thanks to Australia’s Hip-Hop Connect, domestic hip-hop has a home among the swathe of panels, showcases, and presentations with a discussion titled “HIP-HOP: HOW A GENERATION IS CHANGING THE WORLD taking place on Thursday morning at The Guthrie Theatre at Sydney’s University of Technology.

Curated and moderation by Matthew Craig, the conversation will feature insights from three key figures and thought leaders among the current global generation of Australian Hip-Hop. Corey ‘Nooky’ Webster, the host of ‘Blak Out’ on Triple J and Founder of We Are Warriors, will sit alongside Elefant Tracks A&R and Off Beat Collective Founder Jannah Beth, and 66 Records and S.I.L Agency Co-Founder Abraham Poni highlighting their journeys building community, and how recent lessons learned from the domestic rise of hip-hop can ensure its longevity and sustainable impact for generations to come.
