If it’s been a long holiday and you’re looking for some motivation as we roll back into the routine of a new year, then look no further…. because today we’re bringing you an exclusive music video premiere from Melbourne / Naarm that bout to have you feeling empowered in 2020.

Make no mistake, NIASHA knows who she is. She’s a boss. She’s a Queen. And she wants all women to know that they are too. The track, released in 2019 is full of old-school soul, funk and hip-hop vibes. It sits in a nice lane where NIASHA‘s confidence and charm meets strong vocal cadences and flows. Boss Queen invites hints of Ari Lennox and more closer to home, esteemed company like Kaiit and Sampa The Great that NIASHA is undoubtedly soon to sit amongst at future awards ceremonies.

“I penned the song as an affirmation mantra to myself to be reminded of my identity and power as a woman. I want other women to feel encouraged to own themselves and support other women through their own processes of empowerment, self-determination, self discovery, esteem and confidence…”  – NIASHA

The video, directed by Awak Kongor with NIASHA, is full of fun, laughs and explores a different facts of ‘Boss Queens’  – through an array of incredible black women. Thematically it explores concepts of community, support, friendship and mother/sisterhood essential in solidarity with First Nations women – with every element of colour and symbolism meticulously edited by rising cinematographer Jayden Younger and the art pieces created by Artistic Noir (Zion Yaynu).

With a unique swagger and a heap of talent to go with it, 2020 promises to be a year of growth for the Zimbabwean born artist as we anticipate follow ups to last year’s singles Boss Queen and Respect My Space. Enjoy the fresh visuals below and then catch NIASHA live at Revolver next Saturday 18th January.
