WEDNESDAY 1ST APRIL: CREED THA KID – VIBES v KAE THE GOAT x DROOPO – DEX UP [WEST]
First matchup on the cards is a heater with both acts having massive 2019 records. Creed Tha Kid outta Sydney did serious numbers on Vibes, a fun afrobeats laced joint which is still getting regular spins and playlisting 12 months later. Meanwhile Kae The Goat x Droopo burst outta the gates with DEX UP taking over Melbourne’s streets last year and scoring the two a loyal base of supporters. Two young, rising acts. Great way to start the competition.
TUESDAY 7TH APRIL: NERVE – SUNDAY ROAST FT JK-47 v HUSKII – BODY THE BOOTH [WEST]
It was always going to be tough whoever drew Huskii’s anthem in the first round, however the bracket has thrown up an interesting challenger to the Wollongong king. Sunday Roast is Nerve‘s most successful commercial crossover yet and has been all over the national airwaves. With a popular JK-47 assist this could prove stiff competition to Body The Booth, a cultural phenomenon in Australia with one of the most iconic opening line’s in recent memory.
FRIDAY 10TH APRIL: LISI – SAY LESS v JESSWAR – SAVAGE [EAST]
A Main Event in Bris Vegas with two local stars. Say Less is the most popular release from Poly Drill rapper Lisi which has racked up a heap of views and streams across platforms online. He’s a punchline rapper with a rapidly growing fanbase who comes up against one of his cities most respected young artists. Savage was massive for Jesswar and cemented her position in the industry back in 2017 via a Golden Era Records release. Over to you Brisbane..
MONDAY 13TH APRIL: YOUNGN LIPZ – MISUNDERSTOOD v IVAN OOZE – FIRE [WEST]
If it’s possible to exist in a history of only 5 years, we’ve got one of the most promising young stars coming up against an OG of cash culture, while still only in his mid-twenties himself. Misunderstood has clicked over 10 million streams and propelled Youngn Lipz to the front of the scene in a matter of months, meanwhile Fire was an electric, watershed moment for both Ivan Ooze and independent Aus rappers alike. Two seriously passionate online armies. Either could come out on top.
SUNDAY 19TH APRIL: THE KID LAROI – LET HER GO v TRIPLE ONE – SHOWOFF [EAST]
This matchup will get significant attention. The Kid LAROI was always going to be a feared opponent in this comp, with a Lyrical Lemonade visual for Let Her Go and tens of millions of streams and views to his name, however he’s drawn one of the only other acts with numbers to match. Showoff may not be the biggest record in Triple One‘s impressive catalogue but after they brought half the Aus scene together for a mammoth video clip, there’s lots of people out there who love this release.
MONDAY 27TH APRIL: HP BOYZ – ENGINEERS v WOMBAT – GASSED UP [EAST]
Low key with the potential to be THE matchup of Round 1. HP BOYZ will no doubt round up their mega-base of online fans to get around their breakout hit, however will be be enough to hold off a fervent Wombat following who have been riding for their dude for years? Gassed Up is a flow and bar fest. Engineers a quotable vibe. Both acts reach into far corners of the internet but with very distinct differences. Watch closely to see which way it goes.
